Casa Vino Review

So last week, I went and saw "Definitely Maybe" starring Ryan Reynolds and it was quite enjoyable surprisingly. The fact that he's incredibly dreamy and charming probably helped matters I'm sure. Scarlett Johanson is one lucky girl.

Afterward, we hit up Casa Vino down the street on Pine in Long Beach. And it was absolutely delightful! Nice artistic ambiance and we had both white wine and red wine flights. Very tasty. My fave was the Gerwurtzraminer. So delish.

Can't give up the cheese.

Yeah, so I tried the whole "vegan/vegetarian" diet for a whole week. Or I tried to. Vegetarian, no problem. But, I just love me some cheese. I can't be a vegan. I'm sorry. Just can't. Cheese is just too good. Who was I kidding with giving up on pizza?!?!

And, my excuse is I'm STILL making up for lost time since I was allergic to cheese (and all dairy products for that matter) for my entire childhood. I deserve cheese. And our boss just ordered us pizza for lunch today, and by golly, I'm going to enjoy them. So there.

I'm still going to try and cut down on my intake of poultry and red meat to avoid consuming all the hormones and chemicals and stuff. But I love fishies (marketing them AND eating them). That, I can't give up.

You can call me that ANYtime ;)

I joined a fabulous book club a few months back, and so far we've read two excellent books: Eat, Pray, Love (by Elizabeth Gilbert) and What is the What (by Dave Eggers).

For March, our book club is reading "Skinny Bitch" by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. It's a book that encourages being not only a vegetarian but also a vegan.

The book definitely has some convincing arguments I must say. And some of my best friends are either vegetarian or don't eat certain meats. I've often wondered if I could have enough will power to resist chicken and red meat. Everyone pretty much knows animals are mistreated in slaughterhouses, right?

Well, actually reading specific examples and quotes from these workers, I was literally ready to vomit. It is a disgrace how humans can treat animals in such cruel ways. And, all of the hormones and chemicals injected into these animals, and then in turn, entering our body when we eat the meat, CANNOT be good for us!

So, I'm conducting a mini-experiment and eating vegan for seven whole days. I had a field day at Whole Foods yesterday. So much fun. I just want to see if I feel fantastic physically by ridding meat and dairy from my diet for a week. If it improves my sleep and I get less headaches....heck, maybe these skinny bitches are onto something!

I won't give up sushi though. Just because I work at an Aquarium, DOESN'T mean I don't enjoy me some Hamachi!!

You're doing WHAT to WHO?

This video is simply brilliant. Pure comedic genuis. Sarah Silverman created it for her boyfriend, Jimmy Kimmel, on the 5th anniversary of his late-night talk show. If you're ever in a bad mood, I think this video could lift your spirits every time.

And this background video, will make Sarah's tribute video make more sense ;)

P.S. And here is Jimmy Kimmel's rebuttal to Sarah's video.

Enjoy!
